Much of my work examines how people and institutions make decisions when conditions are unstable - when information is incomplete, time is limited and the consequences of delay/mis adoption are significant.

This interest emerges directly from crisis mental health work, where judgement is rarely made under ideal conditions. Instead, decisions are shaped by knowledge thresholds, organisational capacity, and the need to act before certainty possible.

I explore how behavioural models operate in these environments- not as abstract theories, but as practical frameworks that influence triage, prioritisation and intervention.

Culture, Context & Intervention

Psychological and behavioural interventions are often presented as universally applicable. My work questions this assumption via evidence based cultural contexts and shapes engagement, meaning and outcomes.

Through research on cultural adaptation of cognitive behavioural therapy and cross cultural intervention design, I explore how treatment models interact with lived experience. When cultural realities are not accounted for, even evidence-based practices can produce unequal outcomes.

This line of work connects clinical practice to broader questions of equity, legitimacy and access within public systems. I am particularly interested in how institutions embed cultural assumptions into service design- often implicitly - and how these assumptions influence effectiveness.

Public Systems & Structural Behaviour

My work also focuses on how public systems behave when demand, capacity and incentives interact over time.

Institutions respond to pressure in patterned ways - through queue formation, risk redistribution and shifting thresholds for intervention. Understanding these patterns helps explain why services behave as they do, especially under strain.

This interest has led me to develop modelling tools, including simulations of waiting lists and service capacity.
